Favourite Dog in a Ute Memories
The Winner of our best story is
A Dog in a Ute Poem by Matthew Higginbotham
In 1998 I went out Corrigin way,
My first adventure, my first ride in the back of a Ute.
Can you imagine my surprise to see dogs and utes in a paddock to the sky.
I must say it was daunting walking through all those utes, people and dogs barking
But I did myself proud on the 7km rideto town
My paws planted onto the back of the ute, and the wind whistling with all those people
clapping, cheering and waving as we drove to the oval at the end of the parade.
My God I'm being tied to the back of a ute.
Water is put down, its a hot day I can tell you!
I am proud to be left to guard the ute so my owners can go off to do what they do.
I dose of in the Shade but am awoken by cheering.
A number 699 is being shouted.
We stuck it up someone called the Vic's they only did 325!
My owners come back and give me a pat I must have done good today!
So this is my fourth time to Corrigin this year in 2008.
I was only 10 months then now I am 10 years
A little chubbier, going white, and now with only one eye,
but I love coming to Corrigin I always have the time of my life,
and love supporting the local community and RFDS.
PS My sister has only been 3 times.
